The last big gravel day of the South African season. Jeremy Crowder runs it out of Stanford Hills Estate in the Overstrand, on dirt roads that are eighty to ninety percent gravel, with a 25 mile option for people who have never raced before.
Stanford sits in the fold of the Overberg behind Hermanus, and the dirt roads that run out of it towards Salmonsdam and the Klein River mountains are some of the most underrated gravel in the Western Cape. The race uses them properly. The 100 Miler is 169 kilometres with 2,358 metres of climbing and a ten hour cut-off, and it lands in the first week of December, which makes it the closing event of the season rather than a build-up to anything.

Jeremy Crowder and In House Events run this, and entries are theirs. Stanford is an easy weekend from Cape Town, which is why we like it. If you want the roads in your legs before you race them we can ride the Klein River and Salmonsdam gravel with you in the days before, put you on a bike set up to your fit, and keep you in the Overberg afterwards rather than driving straight home. We would love to build something proper around this race in future.
The organiser has not confirmed a 2026 date on their own site. The most recent edition ran on 6 December 2025 and the race has fallen in the first week of December. Check with the organiser before planning around it.
The 100 Miler is 169km with 2,358m of climbing and a ten hour cut-off. There is a 50 Miler at 77km and 1,365m, and a 25 Miler at 40km and 500m for first timers and e-bikes.
